The SwissCham board has three new members, voted in at the SwissCham Annual General Meeting, which took place in Tallinn , Estonia on May 21-22, 2004. They are Mr. Beat Kälin, Director, UBS Export Finance, Mr. Bruno Lehmann, Vice President, Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Portugal and Dr. Fabrizio Rindi, President, Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Italy.

They will join the newly-appointed SwissCham President, Jürg Schweri, Director of the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Austria and Lichtenstein, who was previously SwissCham Vice-President. Mr. Schweri has 22 years of industry experience, and has managed the trilateral chamber of commerce for nine years. The other board members are Mrs. Susan Horvath, Managing Director, Switzerland-China Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Jean-Luc Peyrot, Swiss Chamber of Commerce in France and Mr. Martin Theurer, Germany-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Schweri replaces Dr. Rolf M. Jeker , SGS Senior Executive Vice President, who has been elected president of Osec after three years of distinguished service as SwissCham President. Also leaving, following his valuable contribution as board member is Mr. Werner Grauwiler, Vice-President, Switzerland-Central Europe Chamber of Commerce (SEC). Mr. Daniel Küng, the new Osec CEO, will maintain the status of ex officio board member.

The new members bring a combination of business know-how and trade chamber experience to the table. Mr. Kälin's focus at UBS is on international trade and export financing. Mr. Lehmann, a senior partner at Egon Zehnder International in Lisbon, has had many years of corporate experience at Egon Zehnder and FMC, the US concern. Dr. Rindi, the President of Wintherhur Assicurazioni S.p.S. and Wintherthur Vita S.p.A., also boasts a lengthy tenure in the financing and insurance industry. ds
